Virtual hospice brings festive cheer to patients

PATIENTS have been joining in with festive fun at Primrose thanks to its virtual hospice.

Every year the hospice throws a popular Christmas party at its day hospice in St Godwald’s Road, Bromsgrove enjoyed by its patients, volunteers and staff.

Despite the current restrictions in place, the Care team and Family Support team volunteers wanted to bring its patients together again for some festive fun and relaxation through its virtual hospice sessions.

Familiar faces

Phillip and Joan led the Christmas Crackers session.

Vanessa Gibson, Head of Clinical Services, said: “It has been brilliant to virtually

welcome back our patients and help them meet up with some new and familiar faces.

“It has been a difficult year as we couldn’t run our usual day hospice sessions including our popular Christmas party,

“The virtual sessions have helped to beat isolation and loneliness and it has been great to hear laughter in the hospice once again.

“We really look forward to them and we know our patients do too – it’s a way for all of us to get together and celebrate Christmas.”

Virtual celebrations

Throughout December, the care team are running a Christmas quiz, relaxation sessions, they will be taking a trip down memory lane for Christmases gone by and hosting a virtual celebration too.

They have also enlisted Santa’s Little Helpers to put together gift bags which they’ll be sending out to patients.

The hospice will be offering virtual sessions again in January and any patients wishing to find out more should email virtualhospice@primrosehospice.org.
