Counselling

Primrose Hospice runs counselling sessions for patients and their families. They allow people time to explore their thoughts and feelings.

The Primrose Hospice Counselling Service is based in the purpose built Coppice Centre adjacent to Primrose Day Hospice. We are one of only two hospice-based British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counselling Services in the UK.

Primrose Hospice services are open to:

  • Patients who have a diagnosis of a life-threatening, life-limiting or terminal illness and have a general practitioner within Bromsgrove and Redditch Primary Care Trust.
  • Relatives, friends, loved ones and carers of patients who have a life-threatening, life-limiting or terminal illness.
  • Anyone who is bereaved unexpectedly and has a General Practitioner within Bromsgrove and Redditch Primary Care Trust.

People can self-refer to the service or be referred by a health care professional, such as a GP. Following an initial assessment, there is sometimes a short wait before a counsellor becomes available. There is no charge for accessing the Counselling Service and all sessions are confidential.
