Living Well Service

Primrose Hospice’s Living Well Service is designed for people with a life-limiting illness and families to help manage and maintain their quality of life. The Living Well service is aimed at enhancing your well-being and increasing your happiness whilst meeting your individual needs, whether they be physical, psychological, emotional or spiritual.

There will be an initial assessment, where you will be able to discuss your needs and between us we can decide what is best suited to meet those needs.

We offer support groups and one to one sessions of Complementary Therapy aimed at improving your mental health and well-being and helping you find ways to cope better with your current situation.

Keep reading to find out more about our Living Well Service and how you can make a referral.

Complementary Therapy:One of the complementary therapy rooms at Primrose Hospice.

Our one to one Complementary Therapies do not offer a cure, but can bring relief for some specific symptoms, and side effects of medications or medical treatments. It also offers emotional support during difficult times.

These therapies such as Reiki, reflexology, hypnotherapy, acupuncture and homeopathy occur over four sessions to help with relaxation, stress, anxiety, sleeping issues and physical tension.

Our Complementary Therapists are fully qualified and experienced practitioners, who volunteer their services for free at the hospice.

Groups:A yoga group session being lead by Tony our yoga instructor.

Within the Living Well service you may want to join a group, so you can meet others in similar situations, e.g. You may want to take part in regular group sessions of Yoga, Tai Chi, Therapeutic Singing or Art Therapy and Crafts.

We focus the groups we deliver on the needs of our client group, so please contact us to see what we can offer. If you think you might be interested, please see below to find out how you can make a referral.

How do I make a referral?

If you or someone you know would benefit from group work or one-to-one sessions of Complementary Therapy, you can refer yourself to our service by phoning:

T: 01527 889799

or emailing: primrosehospice.familysupportreferrals@nhs.net

Alternatively, you can ask any education, social care or healthcare professional to make a referral on your behalf.

On referral, if the person is already known to the hospice, they will have a short assessment for one-to-one sessions of Complementary Therapy or, if they are not known to us, then a full assessment will be necessary before the service can be delivered.

Clients already accessing Primrose Hospice services can also self-refer to our Living Well service.
