Kai’s 19-hour gaming marathon Facebook Fundraiser
A TEENAGER took part in a 19-hour video game marathon raising money through Facebook Fundraiser after hearing about the increase in demand for Primrose’s services.
Kai Watts, from Bromsgrove, organised the challenge after his mum Lisa told him about all the extra help Primrose is providing the community during the coronavirus pandemic.
Lisa, a Family Support and Benefits Adviser at Primrose Hospice, said she was proud of Kai for coming up with the idea for the challenge.
After setting up a Facebook Fundraiser, Kai made sure he stocked up on snac
ks and drinks before playing games such as Overwatch and Call of Duty Black Ops 4 from 3pm to 10am.
Following an exhausting 19-hour stint on his Playstation, the teenager was pleased to see his efforts was worth it having raised £355.
Lisa said: “A big well done to Kai for completing the 19 hour marathon and raising £355 for the hospice.
“I cannot wait to see what Kai’s next challenge will be.”
Kai said: “Cheers to everyone who donated, my target was £200, so to reach this amount I was so pleased!”
Primrose Hospice has been experiencing a surge in demand for its services since the start of lockdown.
However, it has had to postpone and cancel fundraising events, purchase new equipment and temporarily close its charity shops too.
Headless Cross is the first shop set to reopen on Saturday, July 4 with safety measures in place to keep shoppers and staff safe.
