London Marathon runners pound the pavements for Primrose

On Sunday 2nd October over 40,000 runners took to the streets of the capital to take on the 26.2 miles of the iconic London Marathon 2022. This year Primrose Hospice & Family Support Centre were privileged to have several members of their community run the London Marathon for their local Hospice. Combined they have raised over £25,000 through independently organised events and sponsorship.

Sharon Johnson (pictured) was one of the London Marathon runners. She took on the race with a group of friends who have all played a part in raising thousands of pounds over the years for Primrose Hospice after her husband Chris Johnson was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2018. She said: “It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done both physically and mentally…I had to keep reminding myself why we were doing it and that kept me going.”

Rebecca Stone, Fundraising Manager at Primrose Hospice said “We are so grateful that we have the support of our community who are so willing to put themselves through such a difficult task like running the London Marathon all to raise money for Primrose. Every penny raised will go a long way to help us to keep supporting people when they need us the most.”
