Our Lights of Love campaign gives you the opportunity to make a tangible act of remembrance for your loved one by dedicating a light in their name.
Anyone who has ever felt the grief of a bereavement can remember their special people with Primrose Hospice’s Lights of Love. Whether they received our care or not, young or old, local or far away, all can be remembered with Lights of Love.
Dedicate a light and see it shine bright
Each twinkling light represents a life loved and will remain lit throughout the festive period. Every name is displayed between November and January around our spectacular Christmas Trees in Bromsgrove and Redditch town centres. Once we have received your donation your personalised Lights of Love card will be posted to you for you to display and keep at home, which will include information about where your dedications are located.
Each tribute you make will also appear on our beautiful Lights of Love 2024 digital tribute page on the Primrose website, creating a collective tribute to all those who have “lit up” your lives. This page is a very special place where you can share your heartfelt personal messages expressing love, remembrance, and the impact your loved ones had on your lives; you can even add photographs. These dedications are accessible to everyone, regardless of how far away they may live.
Rachel’s Lights of Love Story
Rachel’s Lights of Love journey began after her sister Lizzie, died from stomach cancer in 2017 on New Years Day.
“Christmas was Lizzie’s
favourite time of the year, she absolutely loved Christmas. We have so many good memories of Christmas together, we used to start eating Christmas chocolates in November and the tree would always go up on December the first. Lizzie died on New Year’s day just after Christmas, so the memories of our last Christmas together are really special and even though she was really unwell we still managed to have a really fun day.
As soon as we see Lights of Love advertised we start looking for a picture of Lizzie and thinking about our message to put onto the digital tribute page. We love going to watch the Light Switch On and finding her name on the display around the tree and we like the little cards that come through the post each year. Lizzie’s got a little memorial area on our tree, with decorations and all the cards. Luckily we have lots of lovely memories of Lizzie, so it’s important at Christmas to keep our traditions going, it’s like holding onto her in our minds”.

Lights of Love Events
Bromsgrove Christmas Tree Light Switch On
Saturday 23rd November 6pm
Location: Market Street, Bromsgrove B61 8DA (outside ASDA)
Come see our annual Light Switch On at our Christmas tree in Bromsgrove, where every light is shining brightly in memory of a special person who is loved and missed. There will be festive performances, and our staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you find your loved ones’ names. If you would like your tributes displayed for the Light Switch On we will need to have received your dedication by Monday 18th November.
Lights of Love Celebration
Saturday 7th December from 3pm, for performances between 4pm and 4.30pm
Location: Primrose Hospice, B60 3BW
Names are also on display at our lovely Lights of Love Celebration held in our festively lit garden at the hospice. The poignant remembrance event includes live music with a performance by the Primrose Choir, as well as readings from staff and from families that we have supported. A moment of reflection will be followed by the Light Switch On and each guest receives a bauble to personalise. There will be plenty of time during the event to hang your bauble on the Christmas tree. Everyone is welcome to attend, including anyone whose family may not have been cared for by the Hospice. Guests will be invited to join hospice staff and volunteers for a hot drink and mince pie after the event. Booking is not required. Please note that part of this event is held outside. Lights of Love Church Service
Saturday 14th December 4pm
Location: St Godwalds Church, 15 Finstall Road, Bromsgrove B60 2EA
This year we are holding a Church service at St Godwalds Church. The service will include a performance by the Primrose Choir and is an opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one.
