Remember your Mum this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day and its lead up can be hard for anyone missing their mum, whether they haven’t been a part of their life for a day, or decades.

Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre supports bereaved adults and children including Lilly whose mum Lizzie died of stomach cancer in 2017 when Lilly was just 6 years old. Lilly said: Primrose Hospice helped me process what was happening when my mum was ill and after she died. They helped me to meet other people going through similar things, and have given me someone to talk to when I need to.”

Primrose Hospice would like to offer guidance for anyone that may be grieving a mum. They advise if you are finding the day hard, please remember that you are not alone and that all the emotions are normal. Sadness, anger, guilt or even a moment of joy are all completely natural.

They advise to talk openly about her, share stories about her, maybe keep something close to you that helps you feel connected to her like a photograph, or play a piece of music that reminds you of her. Those connections matter, and they keep love and memories alive in a meaningful way.

Remembrance can also bring peace, so Primrose has set up a digital tribute page where you can honour the exceptional women who have touched your life, by posting a photograph and heartfelt message.

Leave your dedication here.
