Jo celebrates milestone birthday with charity wing walk
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? – No, it’s Primrose Hospice’s volunteers’ manager who will be wing walking for the charity.
Jo Wright will be taking on the epic challenge to mark her 50th birthday and the five years she has worked at the hospice in St Godwalds Road, Bromsgrove.
Jo will take to the skies on Friday, July 26 at a private airfield in Cirencester, Gloucestershire and hopes to raise £1,000.
She said: “I’ve worked at Primrose for five years and have seen first-hand how important and valuable the services on offer at Primrose Hospice are to the people who come here.
“I just thought what could I do to raise funds and, as I’ve done a parachute jump before, I wanted to do something different.
“I’m an adrenalin junkie so I’m really excited about the wing walk and just can’t wait.”
While her husband, sons and parents are planning to travel to Gloucestershire to watch the wing walk there are big plans at the hospice too.
The patients all want to see Jo’s sky high efforts so it is hoped her wing walk will be screened live in the Day Hospice.
Jo is known around the hospice for her stylish shoes and, while she won’t be able to wear her usual fancy heels, she plans to decorate a safer pair for the flight.
She also hopes to personalise her own boiler suit especially for the challenge.
Primrose Hospice provides care and support for life-limited people with life limiting conditions and their families but must raise £1.75million to keep these services free.
David Burrell, CEO of Primrose Hospice, said: “It’s a wonderful gesture that Jo is marking her big birthday with an adrenaline rush and raising money to support our essential services at the same time.
“It’s typical of Jo’s commitment and demonstrates her pride in being a key part of Primrose Hospice”
