People wanted for ALM Fitness 12-hour workout

ALM Fitness is holding a 12-hour workout marathon which will raise money for three charities including Primrose Hospice on Saturday.

A team of five instructors from ALM Fitness will be holding online classes between 7am and 7pm on video conferencing app Zoom.

Coaches will take turns to lead classes including conditioning, Pilates and circuits and people can pop in and out as many times as they wish once they have donated.

The 12-hour workout marathon will support Primrose Hospice as well as St Richard’s Hospice and the NHS.

Founder Amy Marshall, whose classes are usually based in Inkberrow, explained that the sessions had been moved online after the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We’ve found that people are really enjoying the Zoom classes while we are in lockdown so we thought it would be a great idea to open it up to everyone and raise money for charity.

“We knew we wanted to support the NHS but we also wanted to try to support local charities during this as well.

“Two of our members work at Primrose Hospice and they told us how fundraising events had been cancelled or postponed but they were seeing an increased demand for their services at the same time.

“These are workouts anyone can join in no matter of their age, size or fitness levels and we are going to end on a ‘wheel of fortune’ session which should be good fun.

“We hope to raise £1,000 for each charity and if we reach £5,000 I said I would shave my hair off at the end of the 12 hours.”

Fitness fans can nominate their friends to take part on social media and they can donate whether they wish to join in or not.

Sarah Harris, community fundraiser at Primrose Hospice, said: “We are so grateful to Amy and all the ALM Fitness coaches for running this 12 hour workout marathon for Primrose.

“Keeping fit and active is so important at the moment so this is a great way to enjoy a workout while raising money for great causes.

“People can nominate their friends to take part and all join in together for a bit of fun too.”
