Meet Catherine…

“Not only did they support myself and my family, but they’ve supported lots of my friends and people I know through their difficult times,  it’s a real sense of community and it’s an important part of our local communities.” – Catherine Caseley.

At Primrose Hospice & Family Support Centre our team of dedicated staff and volunteers provide vital care and support to patients and families in their time of need. Just as our staff and volunteers who form part of our ‘Primrose People’ are vital, our supporters and fundraisers provide crucial donations and support to allow us to continue caring for people who need it the most.

The next ‘Primrose Person’ we are going to be hearing from is Catherine Caseley supporter and fundraiser.

We asked her about why she and her family choose to support Primrose Hospice & Family Support Centre. You can listen to or read Catherine’s words below…

Catherine’s Mum was admitted to The Primrose Unit at the Princess of Wales Hospital before she sadly died. Whilst she was there the team from Primrose Hospice & Family Support Centre provided Complementary Therapy, aromatherapy and support for the whole family.

After Catherine’s Mum died, Catherine was offered counselling from our Family Support Team. “It was nice to have time where ITwo women standing at a wedding in the Spring. could just talk that was just for me. I felt like I was taking on the Mom role for a lot of people. So, it was really helpful to have a bit of a space for myself.”

Catherine and her family decided they wanted to give something back to Primrose, so they put their heads together and Catherine’s Dad decided he was going to get his old band back together for a fundraising gig in memory of Catherine’s Mom.

“You’d have thought the Rolling Stones had reformed the way the reaction from people that there was going to be this gig of memory for Mom. They came together and they did a gig at the

Billesley Rock Club and it raised nearly 1000 pounds for Primrose!”

Catherine and her family have done other fundraising for Primrose including selling beautiful handmade jewellery and a birthday fundraiser adding to their total. They’re planning more in the future and have told us to look out for another gig soon!

“Not only did they support myself and my family, but they’ve supported lots of my friends and people I know through their difficult times,  it’s a real sense of community and it’s an important part of our local communities. That’s why I really want to fundraise for them.”

As an independent charity, Primrose Hospice rely on the support of individuals and businesses to help us to raise the £1.95 million needed each year for us to provide our support services free for families like Catherine’s. If you could fundraise for us, why not get in touch with us?
