Lights of Love – Remembering ‘Turbo’
Megan remembers her Dad, Neil Turberfield, known affectionately as “Turbo”. ‘He wasn’t just my Dad, he was my best friend. Dad worked extremely hard to provide for us and would spoil us rotten at Christmas. We had many family festive traditions, which no longer felt right without Dad. During the run up to Christmas 2024, our first without Dad, we were searching for a way to remember him’.

It was during this difficult time that the family discovered Primrose Hospice’s Lights of Love campaign. ‘Lights of Love has enabled us to start a new family tradition, so we still feel close to Dad. As we stand at the tree in Redditch, we take a moment to remember all the mischief Dad got up to at Christmas and it’s a chance to stop and reflect on all our treasured memories’.
Primrose has been an invaluable part of the family’s grief journey. They have helped Megan’s son Jaxon to understand this extremely difficult time in his life. They have made their grief feel heard, and have helped normalise their emotions around losing the king of the family.
‘Making a donation to Lights of Love to have Dad’s name displayed is a way for us as a family to give back, and we were pleased to see our friends and family also support the cause by making their own tributes to Dad.’
