New charity shop opened in Droitwich

THE ribbon was cut at Primrose Hospice’s newest charity shop which has opened in Droitwich.

Staff and volunteers clapped as Katy Power, Head of Clinical Services, and Vikki Barnett, Shop Manager, had the honour of officially opening the store at 22 St Andrews Square.

Customers will be able to pick up good quality new and second-hand clothing, household items, accessories and more as well as support the hospice which serves north east Worcestershire.

The Droitwich shop joins the charity’s five other shops located in Bromsgrove, Redditch, Headless Cross and Rubery.

Each store helps to raise funds to support Primrose Hospice’s free care and support for people with life-limiting conditions and their families living in north east Worcestershire.

While its services are free to patients and their families, the hospice must raise £1.75million annually to cover its running costs.

Ian McRoy, Retail Manager at Primrose Hospice, said: “It is great to finally open the doors of our newest shop in Droitwich.

“The team and I have been really excited to welcome people through the doors and the town has been really welcoming too.

“We’ve got some great items on offer at the moment but we’re always grateful to people who drop in donations of good quality items.

“We have to rely on our local community to raise around 85 per cent of the £1.75million we need annually and our charity shops are an integral part of our fundraising efforts.

“The Droitwich shop has also given us a chance to share with customers a little more about Primrose Hospice and the services we offer – from day hospice and family services to complementary therapies and chaplaincy.”

Shoppers will also be able to find out more about the hospice’s fundraising events such as the Primrose Ball on Friday, September 27 at Chateau Impney and Primrose Fire Walk at Hogarth’s Stone Manor Hotel on Thursday, September 5.
